Andre Lafond: Momentum, motivation and mindset

I’m really glad to be back with Ammonite Motorsport for the 2022 season! After nothing but a great experience with the entire team last year, I am delighted to be back for my first full season in cars!

My teammates for this season, returning driver Colin Queen, and new additions Shawn Rashid, and Brin Kinch, have been nothing short of phenomenal. It is a pleasure to share the tent and track with them, and watch for all four of us to make some big steps forward this weekend, with good momentum and motivation resulting from the previous rounds of racing at Knockhill! Over the course of two races at Knockhill I was able to drive from 20th up to 4th and fight for a podium! Coupled with great progress at the recent formula Ford United race at Silverstone. I started the day off with pole position! I then grabbed my first hardware of the year, podium and fastest lap in both races. Some tweaks on the mental side of things, primarily mindset, yielded great results. I can’t wait to take all of this momentum on track with me this weekend! For this weekend we head to Croft, a returning addition to the calendar, which is a very unique and challenging circuit.

With the relatively long hiatus since the National Formula Ford Championship’s previous visit to Croft, it will be all about hitting the ground running in the limited testing on Friday. After studying all of the footage available to me, it is a track that I am very excited to race on! With lots of overtaking opportunities and a fair few high speed flowy corners, I would be surprised if it did not turn out to be an action packed weekend. The previous broadcasts of the event have all been very frantic, and a great place to showcase Formula Ford racing. I am looking forward to making more forward progress and taking advantage of every opportunity. I will see you all there and I hope you enjoy the show!
