Andre Lafond: Oulton Park: A weekend full of ups and downs

The race weekend at Oulton Park was full of ups and downs. After consistently picking up time throughout testing, be it wet or dry, it was on to the race days. Qualifying was a bit rough, despite the balance of the car and my driving being positive, the lack of a draft meant I was starting a bit further back in 12th. A takeaway is to be more thoughtful of my track positioning for qualifying in the future.

In Race 1, I gained a position on the start and with limited passing opportunities stayed there for the rest of the race. The pace in the car early on was quite good but I was unable to make a move stick on the car ahead. Race 2 went much better, with strong pace and several positions gained. Brought the car home in 7th with the fastest sector two time, 3 tenths off of fastest lap despite losing 4 tenths in the final corner due to a car off track. Some solid steps forward! The rain came down hard for Race 3. A spin in the rain meant an aggravating DNF. Regardless, I took some large steps in the right direction, improving every time I am able to spend time on track.
